| Cataracts
Cataracts are the leading cause of blindness in
the world. A cataract is a clouding of the eye’s crystalline lens
that results in less light being transmitted through the eye. Most
cataracts develop so slowly that many patients don’t realize that
their vision has declined. Common symptoms include gradual decreasing
vision, decreased ability to read in dim light, and increased glare
on sunny days.
Cataract Prevalence:
Age 52-64 42%
Age 65-74 60%
Age 75-85 91%
Thanks to advances in medical science, cataract
surgery is a reasonably safe and common procedure today in the U.S.
Riverbend Eyecare works closely with local cataract surgeons to
ensure that our patients get the treatment that is right for them.
